The Perfect Poncho

Wow, Friday already! This week's flown by. My Finished object this week is Emma Fassio's Rosa's Caponcho. It was a total dream to knit. I used King Cole Riot Chunky in the Seashore colour way which gave me really pretty stripes and knitted up very quickly. I dropped a needle size from what the pattern called for so it would be a good size for my almost 4 yr old, Ruby. She loves it :)

Wet Weekend

Well, with the bank holiday weather being so completely hopeless we haven't managed to go very far or do very much. As a result I have got a whole lot of knitting done. There's one item I'll save to show you on Friday but besides that I have a couple of WIP's to show you. My Azzu's shawl is growing -

and I have also managed a few rounds of the Sabine cardigan that's been a bit neglected of late.

This week I finished reading Afterwards by Rosamund Lupton, an incredible book. I wasn't too sure about it initially because of the perspective it's told from but by the end I had laughed and cried, which is what a good story is all about right? I've now begun reading The Woman Before Me by Ruth Dugdall, it's a fascinating story which I'm really enjoying.

You can find more WIP's and Yarn Alongs at Tami's and Ginny's.

Smiley Friday

I like Fridays, they feel like a coming together of family for the weekend. With this weekend being an extra long one it's an extra smiley Friday.
My FO this week got completed a few days ago. it was a Pickles Tunic for my smallest little girl Holly. It was lovely to knit, came together really quickly and I got to use some buttons from my button stash which I rarely seem to need to reach for with all the socks and shawls I've been knitting recently.

Check out Tami's Amis for more FO.

Feeling Blue

My WIP Wednesday project this week is Emma Fassio's Azzu's Shawl. When a saw a pic of it on Ravelry I thought it was so pretty I had to make one. I chose Blencathra yarn from Nimu which is so soft and light, it's just beautiful.
I rarely use blue yarn, I tend to be pulled towards warm colours, reds and oranges especially but I spend quite a bit of time in jeans and so have a fairly 'blue' wardrobe. I have chosen 'denim' as the colour way anyhow, so it'll be 'matchy' with lots of my clothes.

Just a quick add on because I have recently discovered the Yarn Along with Ginny and I really want to take part. I'm currently reading Afterwards by Rosamund Lupton, it's completely intriguing, I can't wait to find out how it ends.

My first Knitalong

Well the Stripe Study Shawl KAL was a first for me in many ways, my first knitalong, my first stripes, by far the longest rows I've knitted but it's finished, and I've really enjoyed it.
I've learned loads, how to switch colours properly, how to wrap and turn and how to not bind off a shawl ;)
I just voted for the pattern for the next KAL over at Crafts from the Cwtch. I'm really looking forward to it.

Full Hands

I currently have 4 projects on needles and another 2 ready to cast on. There are simply not enough hours in the day!
My WiP Wednesday project this week is a Pickles Vest which I started last night for my littlest girl Holly. It's on my new Addi-Click Lace needles which I'm loving.

The Point of It

I've had lots of knitty stuff going on here the last few days. I've almost finished my Stripe Study Shawl for the KAL, I've run out of contrasting colour so the final stripe is done in the main colour, which blends in and makes a wide border, not quite finished yet though.

I've also cast on a project I've wanted to do for ages, a cardigan for me. I really like a cardigan, not too thick, that I can pull on over whatever if it gets a bit chilly. I can't find one to buy anywhere so I decided it was about time I just got on with it and knitted one. It's a Sabine cardigan, knitted with Nimu Kidsty yarn.

The problem I had with yarn as fine as this, and particularly this colour, was that my Knit Pro Symfonies weren't quite as sharp as I'd like to pick it up, and I couldn't see it very well against the colour of the needles.
I have recently been trying out socks on circs. and Sarah from Crafts at the Cwtch had recommended me Addi Lace needles which I have found I just adore, so I have now invested in a full set to fulfil my desire for 'pointyness'.
